I am also adding the local folder to the list of things git should ignore. The local folder for Splunk Apps contains local changes to the app that do not affect the core App for other users.

… `data/custom/` directory. You should be able to go to https://www.gitignore.io and search for your respective template and locate your file. @EdwardCourt apologies for the delay in replying to this. I had a lot of these templates requested, but I couldn't quite figure out the right place for them. I ended up settling on #2857, and the Splunk template now lives at Feel free to add any further changes there, and thanks again for the contribution! |

When developing a Splunk App the local.meta file is not required for the distribution of the Splunk App. The local.meta file contains information about the current " *.meta files contain ownership information, access controls, and export settings for Splunk objects like saved searches, event types, and views. Each app has its own default.meta file."
