arm-linux-androideabi-gcc: no input files

Issue

Essentially, I can't get the distribute.sh script to complete when I try to create a distribution. I'm trying to run:
./distribute.sh -fm "sqlite3"

But every single time I try, the script just dies with:
arm-linux-androideabi-gcc: no input files

No errors or anything. I did a little digging, and the last thing that happens is the following files get created:

• python-for-android/src/obj/local/armeabi/objs/sqlite3/sqlite3.o
• python-for-android/src/obj/local/armeabi/objs/sqlite3/sqlite3.o.d
• python-for-android/src/obj/local/armeabi/libsqlite3.so

Then distribute.sh calls biglink, which expects to find "o" and "libs" files in the python-for-android/build/objects/ folder -- but nothing's there. So the script just stops!

My setup

Ubuntu 12.04 64bit
Android SDK 14
Android NDK r7, r7c, r8e, r8e_64 (I get the same error regardless of the version)
Most recent version of python-for-android

This project has two slightly different guides. I've gone through both of them to no avail:

I have the following tools installed, as per one of the guides:
build-essential patch git-core ccache ant python-pip python-dev ia32-libs libc6-dev-i386 lib32stdc++6 lib32z1

Hmmm, I feel silly. It worked once I included kivy in the list of modules. Does that mean kivy is a mandatory module? Being new to the project, this wasn't obvious to me. I assumed that you could just pick the modules that you need in your distro (in my case sqlite3 and pycrypto). But those modules won't work without kivy present. Is that the intended behavior?

Kivy shouldn't be mandatory, ideally, but as there isn't anybody (afaik)
using python-for-android without it (for the lack of an other gui
toolkit), it's probably a largely untested usecase. So i would still
consider this a bug.

Ah thanks, that explains it. For my project, I'm trying to use python-for-android to install a small server that's meant to run in the background. No need for a GUI. But I do need sqlite3 and pycrypto. For the time being, I'll just make sure kivy is included in the distro.
